Poem for David Thomas

"I credit your web site with having enticed me into a great experience aboard Rose, cruising from Newport through the Cape Cod Canal and around Massachusetts Bay in June. On my return, I got this poem as a present from my wife, a person who, sadly for me, detests sailing. She seems to have got it just right, and she wasn't even there..."

New York City

I felt it
The spray fresh flung
At the hull timbers heaving
Heartward in the salting sun
Multiple masts vault
Into a hot blue that swoops
Down to prow-burst foam
While on this baked concrete corner
Waiting for a pay phone
I felt it
And could have cried for joy
To hail your happiness.
