Morning Watch
A sleelpy Justin Namon, left, from G.W. Carver middle and William Lott, right, from Key Biscayne Middle, stand bow watch early in the morning aboard the HMS Rose. Justin had gotten up early to watch the sun rise at 5 a.m., but it was cloudy. It was their third day aboard the HMS Rose, a replica of an 18th century British frigate, which the middle school students from Miami Dade County are helping sail the 1,000 miles back to Miami.

"A watch" trainee Tiffany Stepherson climbs out of a sleeping compartment while performing hourly boat checks aboard the HMS Rose.

Safety First
Safety drills usually require a volunteer to try on the immersion suit, or "gumby suit" as their commonly known. One lucky person is being helped by second mate Jason Scoran.

The bosun Hank Mosely cools off some students during a deckwash.

Even Jackal has a station during safety drills.
