DAY TWO AT SEA, BETWEEN PUERTO RICO AND HISPANOLA

Joel Dantes-Castillo, 13, a Shenandoah middle 8th grader, lies on the deck of the HMS Rose and looks up at the sails driving them on. On the second day after leaving from San Juan aboard the HMS Rose, a replica of an 18th century British frigate, 21 middle school students from Miami Dade County are mostly done with being seasick and are helping sail the ship the 1,000 miles back to Miami.

Students Joe Bucciero and Jon Greiffenstein join Boatswain Hank Moseley up on the rigging Tuesday morning, May 30, 2000 for a repair.

Tiffany Stepherson, 14, a Westview Middle School 8th grader, helms the HMS Rose Tuesday, May 30, 200, on a course of 310 degrees, bound for Miami.
