Six Weeks vs. Six Hours: Why am I here?

by Joe Pellegrino

Here I am, cold and wet,
Why didn't I take a jet?
She will do 12 knots with full sails and
a breeze to carry her;
Ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your
drinks as we break the sound barrier.
100 ft. off the deck, hanging by a thread;
Items tend to shift during flight, so
please watch your head.
Today's entertainment, who's hair is
the most greasy;
Three movies and ten music channels,
from Hard Rock to easy.
What luck! I found a saltine, soggy and limp;
I just can't decide, chicken or shrimp.
Vanity Fair, Sailing World, all from '83;
Over twenty magazine choices, which will it be?
Damp bed, no headroom, personal hygiene a disgrace;
Here is your blanket, pillow, and a hot towel
for your face.
Without a doubt, a plane would have
been more comfortable and fast;
But this is a once in a lifetime adventure
full of memories that will last.
